Kinship Caregiver
What is kinship care? The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and Indian Child Welfare (ICW) uses “kinship care” to refer to the full-time care of a child by relatives, suitable others or relatives defined by tribal code or custom. When you become a foster parent, you provide children and youth with a safe, loving, temporary home, making it possible for them to stay in their school, connected to their parents, siblings, and culture. If you have a family member in foster care, learn how you can support them as a licensed Kinship Caregiver.
